Learner Life At Glen Afric
Learning Beyond The Classroom
Equestrian & Outdoor Activities
Equitherapy and archery are part of weekly life at Glen Afric, not once-off treats, for our younger learners. Our rural setting turns the outdoors into part of the classroom, and learners build confidence, coordination and a genuine connection to the land around them.
Hands-On Science & Practical Learning
Learners get out from behind the desk for real practicals, from the science lab to hands-on art and craft activities, our learners learn by doing, an approach that suits the way many children learn best.
Excursions & Open Days
Bushcraft lessons, off-site excursions and our Open Days bring the world into the classroom and take the classroom out into the world. These are highlights on the school calendar and for good reason the kind of days learners remember long after the term ends, and often the moments that turn a lesson into something they actually want to talk about at home.
Culture, Music & Themed Days
Costume days, music and creative projects give learners a chance to express themselves and build community with their classmates, term after term. It’s the kind of thing that sounds small on paper but ends up defining what a child remembers about their years at school. The themed days, e.g. Mandela Day, Pyjama Day, Sports Day, Valentine’s Day, Mini Soccer World Cup Day, Crazy Hat Day, Book Character Day are stand outs, as well as the songs learned for an assembly, the costume someone’s mom helped put together the night before.
